WALES’ SIXTH RECOVERY SUNDAY

Sunday, 29th October, 2017, will be another milestone in the history of the battle against addiction to alcohol, drugs and other harmful behaviours, in Wales.
Once again this year, a Sunday has been designated as Recovery Sunday to encourage churches not only to think about those suffering from various dependencies or addictions, to learn more about their situation, their needs and the help available through such centres as the Living Room, but also to encourage churches to do something practical to help.  This could involve a financial contribution towards the work. Others may take note of what is said in Hebrews 13,3 “Regard prisoners as if you were in prison with them.” (The Message). The author of the letter to the Hebrews no doubt refers to a literal, physical prison, but on Recovery Sunday let us remember that addiction to alcohol, drugs, food, sex/pornography, gambling etc. is a prison for so many people today.

The Reverends Ifan and Catrin Roberts are responsible for preparing the service which is based on the story of Zacchaeus (please find the attached). Zacchaeus was restored, he was ‘recovered’ by Jesus. He had been born a son of Abraham, He became lost for a time, but Jesus sought him out and restored him to be, yet again, a son of Abraham. The people of Jericho had seen salvation at work that day.

You are welcome to use this service, in English or Welsh. It can be downloaded from our website: www.livingroom-cardiff.com
This is the sixth Recovery Sunday in Wales. On this Sunday, we invite Christians to unite in prayer for those who are dependent and trapped in addiction, to ask God to help us to help them.

Thank you in anticipation of your cooperation and support.

CHWECHED SUL ADFERIAD CYMRU

Bydd dydd Sul 29ain o Hydref, 2017, yn garreg filltir arall yn hanes y frwydr yn erbyn dibyniaeth ar alcohol, cyffuriau ac ymddygiadau niweidiol eraill, yng Nghymru.
Unwaith eto eleni, nodwyd Sul fel Sul Adferiad i annog eglwysi nid yn unig i ystyried sefyllfa’r rhai sy’n dioddef o ddibyniaeth o ryw fath, i ddysgu mwy am eu sefyllfa, eu hangen a’r help sydd ar gael trwy ymdrechion mudiadau megis Stafell Fyw, ond hefyd i weithredu yn ymarferol i estyn cymorth.  Gall y cymorth olygu cyfraniad ariannol tuag at y gwaith i rai, tra y bydd eraill yn cymryd sylw newydd o’r anogaeth sydd yn Hebreaid 13, 3 “Daliwch ati i gofio’r rheiny sy’n y carchar, gan feddwl sut brofiad fyddai hi i fod yn y carchar eich hunain!”  Efallai mai carchar llythrennol sydd dan sylw awdur y llythyr at yr Hebreaid, ond ar Sul Adferiad cofiwn fod caethiwed dibyniaeth ar alcohol, cyffuriau, bwyd, rhyw, gamblo a mwy yn garchar i gymaint o bobl heddiw
Y Parchedigion Ifan a Catrin Roberts, sy’n gyfrifol am baratoi’r gwasanaeth sy’n seiliedig ar hanes Sacheus (gweler yr atodedig). Adferwyd Sacheus gan Iesu. Roedd wedi ei eni yn fab i Abraham, aeth ar goll am gyfnod, ond aeth Iesu i chwilio amdano a’i adfer unwaith eto yn fab i Abraham – roedd y bobl yn Jericho wedi gweld beth ydy achubiaeth y diwrnod hwnnw.

Mae croeso I chi ddefnyddio’r gwasanaeth hwn, yn y Gymraeg neu’r Saesneg. Gellir ei ddadlwytho o’n gwefan: www.livingroom-cardiff.com
Dyma chweched Sul Adferiad Cymru. Ar y Sul hwn, gwahoddwn Gristnogion Cymru i uno mewn gweddi dros y rhai sy’n gaeth, yn ddibynnol; yn gofyn i Dduw ein helpu ni i’w helpu nhw.

Diolch rhagblaen am bob cydweithrediad a chefnogaeth.
